do SOMETHING about Alesia
Worthless as we all know, but really, if you are not a Monk, you only have the Res Signet and it is used on Alesia once your other henchman have used theirs. She dies EVERY battle. Means if you are playing with henchman, you must finish the mission without her. Gads Anet.. do something about her. Not even worth bringing her anyomore.
</rant>
But really, why do they make her so worthless? Starting over yet another mission becaue of her.

The only problem I have with Alesia is that the mob AI tries to gank her at every opportunity. She's certainly just as good as half the PC monks out there, and BETTER than a significant number of them. If she's dying too much, perhaps you need to alter your strategy somewhat.

As a warrior, she dies all the time. Not so on my casters. She hardly ever dies when playing them. Sort of hard to change your strategy as a warrior, since she follows the lead player, or you if you are alone, and hence ends up tanking. If you arent a W/Mo, she dies. No two ways about it.

*Shrugs* Only been at this issue for days before posting, but if I am really the only one that has a problem with Alesia, then I'll keep it to myself. ^^

It helps to watch how much heat Alesia is taking. As I mentioned, the AI loves to try and gank her. If she's getting beat on, try to refocus your henchies on her attackers by selecting one of the mobs hitting her. This will reduce the number of attackers hitting her, and hopefully even divert their attention to another one of your henchies.

Hahah <3 Alesia. Seriously though, it's not so bad once you hit the desert and pick up her sister, Lina.

I had much more trouble with Alesia as my warrior than as more distanced characters. She wants to stay 5 feet from you.
You either need to get ahead of your team far enough to grab all agro yourself, or pack some party defense/healing boosts to help alesia out. Melee ward does wonders, watch yourself makes henchmen live considerably longer, etc...
Yes, Alesia needs help. It might hurt your build a bit, but chances are you have ways of providing it.

It's a trick of henchmen that they follow your movement. If you're a warrior it's the hardest but you have to stay way back and move around after you call the target. Avoid the temptation to charge in as a warrior should do and send stefan or Thom in first.
When you send them in circle about 9 ft/3 meters behind the fight. Instead of targeting the monk first target the first monster that passes your warrior going in.
I know if you play againt people that's stupid but trust me on this. I've done every mission in the game with henchmen.

The worst of it is that alesia always tries to keep a certain distance from you, so mid battle when my r/nec wants to blood ritual her, she usually runs away. Odly enough she'll often prioritize fleeing from my ranger above healing.

Alesia is a competent healer. If you're taking damage, she'll heal. Fair enough.
Alesia is a useless monk. If your party's hit hard, your eles, mesmers and necros are dead, your rangers and warriors are just hanging on by a thread, and the only hope of survival is to get your party members back into the game, does alesia res? No. Does she heal you? Barely. Does she fire ineffective shots from her smite staff doing very little damage, until the party is dead? Aha!!!

I too find if you use a ranged weapon as a melee main player Alesia does rather well. Just intially start out range attacking and then switch to your melee weapon and charge in and she stays back and heals like she should. I have no problems with Alesia at all playing this way or any of the other casting classes.

I found Alesia quite usefull and probably my most favourite henchman (along with Lina) but yeah I agree sometimes she can die quite often for dumb reasons like standing between 5 mobs and not moving but thats where you start applying a bit of strategy to keep her away from mobs.
She don't run much from mobs does she?

That's because she's out of mana.
On the resing, you admit you and the warriors are hanging by a thread, yet you want her to stop healing to res? When you are able, you should bring Claude, he helps Alesia in the mana department. I do wish he wouldn't bother slapping blood ritual on my warrior though...

There is no way she is continually out of energy for 30+ seconds. I loathe her while playing a physical attack orientated character, because i am dealing damage over time instead of up front and i am forced to rely upon her tipping the damage dealt versus recieved back in my favor.
But its not just that, but the occasional bug combined with the AI that really pushes my buttons at times. Alot of the time its just better to abandon the henchmen and solo parts of the larger npc groups and come back to res later. I hate it when i have to do that, because i feel that im merely exploiting the npc reaction ranges and not really defeating the encounter.
